Recent Planning Applications
November 2008

9 2008 1035 TC - The pruning of trees covered by South Derbyshire District Council Tree Preservation Order Number 56 and falling within Conservation Area at 6 Brook Side Close, Repton.

RESOLVED: That no comments would be made.

9 2008 1093 U - The change of use from School storage building (C2) to business/office use (B1) and creation of parking area (three spaces) within existing school car park and installation of two ornamental bollards to prevent parking on site frontage at The Old Mitre, West Wing, Burton Road, Repton.

RESOLVED: Repton Parish Council wishes to OBJECT to this planning Application. In support of the objection it offers the following observations: ·

  • The increase in vehicle movements to and from the proposed parking area will create an unacceptable risk of traffic accidents in this narrow section of highway where visibility for emerging vehicles is very compromised.
  • The combination of additional traffic movements and poor visibility create an unacceptably increased risk of pedestrian injury. Large numbers of school pupils use the pavements here to walk between residential school houses and lessons, also a significant number of local residents visit the nearby butcher's shop and pub on foot. The pavements on either side of the highway by the Old Mitre are narrow and there is no pavement at the entrance to the proposed parking area.
  • The proposed office will disturb the adjoining residents' quiet enjoyment of their home and intrude on their privacy.
  • Users of the taxi business will cross the road on foot between the office and the parking area at a position where they have a restricted view of approaching traffic travelling downhill towards the Cross. ·
  • While recognising the benefits of having a taxi business in the village the parish council considers that a better location should be sought.
  • In order to fully appreciate the traffic hazards in the area a site visit by members of the Development Control Committee is requested.

9 2008 0830 FH - The erection of a potting shed and alterations to boundary gate at Bower Hill, Well Lane, Repton.

9 2008 0851 FH - Proposed detached garage with office above at 11 Pinfold Lane, Repton.

RESOLVED: To OBJECT to the proposal for the following reasons:

a) Out of keeping with an area which it is proposed to include into the Repton conservation area. b) The building would be too near to neighbours. c) The building proposed is 18 feet high and would dominate the neighbours in the vicinity. d) There would be an increased flood risk, the proposed building being 40 yards from Repton Brook. e) The Parish Council is concerned about a future change to commercial use.
